I was doing some research to see about the setting in Oliver Twist. I found that the setting is very questionable until lately. Now many people believe that this is the building. It had been protected by british authorites now. This is allegedly the workhouse which is the inspiration of the novel.
That's really cool that you were able to find the actual workhouse. Are you saying this is the one that Dickens spent time in? I also was surprised when I started to do research just how realistic this novel was; at the beginning it seemed pretty disturbing and far fetched, but upon closer investigation, I found out that this was in fact very common back in that time.
